Sam Tongue currently a senior at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. Most recently he served as the sports director for The Blaze, ASU’s student radio station, traveling across the country to cover college athletics. He started his sports journalism career in high school, broadcasting and covering high school football, basketball and baseball. He continued that work through hosting a northwest-based sports talk radio show for two years, winning two Oregon Association of Broadcasters awards along the way. What he’s learned through it all is quite simple: every piece he covers — a St. Mary’s-Brophy basketball game, an Arizona State national championship or Gabby Douglas winning gold — takes on a life of its own. A northwest native now woven into the downtown scene, Sam understands the importance of a local focus. Regardless of venue or fan loyalty, everything that happens in this town affects the downtown sports fan differently, and Sam works to express that ideal.

Gerald Bourguet is a senior at the Walter Cronkite School. An avid writer with a passion for sports coverage, he has an extensive knowledge and love for basketball and has been a loyal Phoenix Suns fan since Michael Jordan retired from the Bulls. He has played and studied the game since age four, winning a state championship in 4A high school basketball in New Mexico. Gerald writes daily NBA fantasy articles for ReupSports.com in addition to managing his own personal NBA blog. As a devoted basketball fan, participant and analyst, he aspires to follow in the footsteps of the great columnist Bill Simmons to cover an NBA beat for a magazine or an online publication.

Will Argeros is a sophomore at the Walter Cronkite School. He has played hockey since 2003 and was on Desert Vista High School’s varsity team for three years. Will has worked as a USA Hockey official since 2006 and was a youth coach for three years at Polar Ice in Chandler, Ariz., teaching the fundamentals and strategies of the game to his team. In his freshman year, he was an intermission analyst for the ASU D1 hockey team as a member of the Walter Cronkite Hockey Broadcast Organization. Will also writes a blog called Talking Hockey with Will Argie, which discusses professional, college, high school and youth hockey in Arizona.

Editor’s note: Will Argeros is the official stats tracker for the Sun Devil hockey team. His responsibilities include counting hits, blocked shots, shots for and against, face-off wins and losses and power play and penalty kill successes, as well as tracking goals, assists, penalties and plus/minus. The position is unpaid.
